Jardica (female) was born in 2009 and Jinx (male) was born in 2010. They were raised in captivity as pets and were eventually sent to live in the non-releasable wildlife compound at Springwater Provincial Park, after they became too large and difficult to handle. When the wildlife compound closed in 2013, the lynx were transferred to Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary . Both lynx are habituated to humans and cannot be released into the wild
Jardica is named in memory of a donor’s relative. Jinx received his name through a contest on Facebook. Jardica and Jinx are now sharing an enclosure with their longtime neighbour from Springwater Park, Monty the bobcat.
